Because the development of children’s nervous system is not perfect, for example, the inhibition function of cerebral cortex is poor, and neural myelin is not fully formed, once they are subject to the outside stimulation such as high fever, the excitement can easily spread to cause unconsciousness, the whole body twitching and other symptoms, which is called as high fever convulsion in medicine.
·High fever convulsions are most commonly seen in childhood, and among the children of 0-7 years old, the incidence of high fever convulsions is 3% - 4%. The incidence of pediatric convulsions is 5-10 times of that of the adults.
·High fever convulsions have the genetic tendency, with easy recurrence, and the recurrence rate under 1 year old is 50%.
·Without timely care, twitching more frequently and longer time can cause brain cell damage, or even cause epilepsy, which affects children’s intelligence growth, lowers intelligence quotient, and hence produces learning and behavioral problems.
